Presentation of the exchange:
Fontaine Obscure is one of the reference centres of photography in France. Based in Aix-Provence, the centre is managed by an non-profit association composed by a worker and about 50 volunteers. The association organises La Photo se Livre and Phot`Aix, two photography festivals with national impact, which take part throughout the year, and its gallery hosts professional photography exhibitions every month, as well as courses, workshops and other activities.
During the exchange programme, the work was focused on the organization of La Photo se Livre, the main event for the association until the summer. The festival took place from last 30th May to 17th of June. 17th of June was the big day of the festival with activities like a photography contest of artists` books, round tables, exhibitions, workshops along with photography stands, a photo studio and a ephemeral bookshop. Before the event, the new entrepreneur collaborated on the reception and management of applications for the contest, the mounting of the exhibitions and the attention to the public, encouraging the visitors to participate in the activities proposed.
Our collaboration included also the first phases of Phot´Aix festival, which will take place from next October to December. Phot´Aix is a prestigious event in the ambit of French photography. It is divided into two modalities: Regards croisés and Les Parcours. The new entrepreneur attended the meetings of the festival´s staff and collaborated in the reception and managing of applications for the Regards Croisés modality, which this year is devoted to China and five of its best photographers.
Besides, the exchange was also focused on communication tasks, especially on the social media management, where the new entrepreneur could brought new ideas for the association pages in Facebook and learn new ways to create and publish photography contents thanks to the host entrepeneur.
Quote of the NE
The Erasmus for Young Entrepeneurs provides an excellent opportunity to learn and understand how your work is developed throughout the European continent. Sharing experiences, knowledge and ideas, meeting photographers, artists and other cultural operators in Aix-en-Provence made my exchange an unforgettable and profitable experience.
