From West to East: Bringing Ideas to Life
”I had carried for years this childhood dream of mine of one day being able to make a difference in the world. Fascinated by stories and they way they shape our lives, I began to write and discovered that similar to my spoken voice, my written voice was equally powerful. When faced with a down to earth occupation choice though, I found myself in the marketing industry in 2013 doing mainly copywriting and PR, and dreaming about starting my own business in the same industry.
When I heard about the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme from IO Fundatia Danis (Cluj-Napoca, Romania), I knew that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, able to develop both my marketing and entrepreneurial skills.
Once accepted to the programme, it didn’t take too long before I found Michelle (redPepper Marketing), my Host Entrepreneur in the UK. During our five-month collaboration, I worked with the redPepper Marketing team on different projects, delivering marketing campaigns on time and on budget for both large and small businesses. I mainly got involved in such activities as: website development and management, PPC advertising, SEO, social media management, email marketing, strategy and print advertising.
Michelle brought out the best in me. The knowledge and skills I developed during my stay at redPepper Marketing have helped me to improve some key aspects of my business plan and to better understand the challenges of digital marketing.
The end of the programme didn’t mean the end of our successful collaboration though. We decided to continue working together on specific projects and make the most of our complementary skills.” Elena
Short quotes from the business exchange:
Elena (NE):
This experience have given me the opportunity to better understand the challenges of digital marketing and develop my entrepreneurial mindset. Michelle (Host Entepreneur) managed to bring out the best in me and support me in my endeavours, safely guiding me through the challenging realms of marketing and business.
Michelle (HE):
Elena’s exchange has been a positive experience in all aspects. Her experience and insights into how business is conducted in other cultures helped to stretch the thinking and imagination of our team as we prepare marketing campaigns that are relevant to the diversity of culture found in Britain.
